আজ ঈদের দিন সব কাজ শেষ করে আমরা রেডি হচ্ছিলাম বের হওয়ার জন্য। এবার ঈদের ছুটির সময়টা খুবই ভালো ছিল। সাথে আরও ২ দিন ছুটি নিয়েছিলাম আর তাতেই হয়ে গেল টানা ৯ দিন। কিন্তু ঈদ না করে তো আর বেড়াতে যাওয়া যাবে না। তাই ঈদের দিন রাতেই রওনা দিলাম । এবারের ভ্রমণ ছিল ৪ দিনের জন্য আর আমরা ছিলাম ৩ জন। আমি, আমার স্ত্রী এবং আমার একমাত্র মেয়ে।

এবার বলব কিভাবে গেলাম। রাত ১২.৩০ মিনিটে জেদ্দা পরিবহনের টিকিট কাটা ছিল। আমরা রাত ১১.৩০ এর দিকে বাসা থেকে বের হলাম। রাস্তায় তেমন গাড়ি ছিল না। একটা মটর রিক্সা নিয়েই আমরা তিনজন রওনা দিলাম আরামবাগের দিকে। আরামবাগ পৌঁছে কিছু নগদ টাকাও তুলে নিলাম। তারপর বাসের জন্য অপেক্ষা।  প্রায় ৪০ মিনিট অপেক্ষা করার পর রাত ১২.৪৫ এর দিকে বাস আসল আর আমরাও বাসে গিয়ে বসলাম। বাস রওনা দিল ১০ মিনিট পরেই। বরাবরের মত এবারও আমার রাতে বাসে ঘুম আসল না। সারারাত জেগে জেগে কেটে গেল। রাত ২.৩০ এর দিকে হোটেল জান্নাতে যাত্রা বিরতি দিল। এটি ভৈরবে অবস্থিত। হোটেল জান্নাতের গুগল লোকেশন লিংক দিয়ে দিলাম যদি কারো কাজে লাগে। Hotel Jannat

 

প্রায় ৩০ মিনিট পর আবার বাস যাত্রা শুরু করল। রাত ৩.৩০ এর দিকে দেখলাম বৃষ্টি শুরু হয়ে গেছে তখন আমরা হবিগঞ্জ পার হচ্ছিলাম। কিছুক্ষণ পর আমার একটু ঘুম আসল। কিন্তু ঘুমিয়ে আর লাভ কি, ভোর ৫.১৫ এর দিকে সিলেটের হুমায়ন চত্তর পৌঁছে গেলাম আর সেই সাথে প্রচন্ড বৃষ্টি। যাইহোক বাস থেকে নেমে কোনো রকম একটু মাথা গুজলাম পরিবহন কাউন্টারের সামনে। কাউন্টার খুলে নাই তাই সামনে অনেক মানুষ এর মধ্যে ধাক্কাধাক্কি করে আমরাও ধুকলাম।

এবার তামাবিল যাওয়ার জন্য সিএনজি খুজতে হবে। ছাতাটা বের করে সিএনজি খোজা শুরু করলাম। বৃষ্টিতে ভিজে যাচ্ছি তাও সিএনজি খোজা থেমে নেই। প্রচন্ড বৃষ্টি হচ্ছে, তাছাড়া সকাল হয়নি এখনো তাই এখনও ঠিক মত সিএনজি বের হয়নি। যাইহোক একটু পরেই সিএনজির আনাগোনা বাড়তে লাগল।  কিন্তু কেউই তামাবিল যেতে রাজি হচ্ছে না সবার ধারণা রাস্তায় পানি উঠে যেতে পারে। তবে রাস্তায় আরো সিএনজি বাড়লে, সিএনজি গুলো যেতে রাজি হতে শুরু করল তবে ভাড়া অনেক বেশি চায় কেউ কেউ ১৮০০ টাকা চায়, কেউ কেউ ১৫০০ টাকা চায়।

শেষ পর্যন্ত ১১০০ টাকায় সিএনজি ঠিক করতে সমর্থ হলাম এবং তামাবিলের উদ্দেশ্য রওনা হলাম। আমরা তামাবিলের উদ্দেশ্যে রওনা হওয়ার পর বৃষ্টি আরো বাড়তে লাগল। তামাবিল যেতে প্রায় ১.৩০ ঘন্টা সময় লাগে। কিন্তু বৃষ্টি এতটায় বেশি ছিল যে, সিএনজি চলতেই পারছিল না। যাইহোক, অর্ধেক রাস্তা না যেতেই আমরা দুই জন একেবারে ভিজে গেলাম। আমার মেয়ে মাঝখানে বসায় সে আরামে ঘুমাতে ঘুমাতে যাচ্ছিল। আমরা সকাল ৮.০০ টার দিকে তামাবিল বর্ডারে পৌছালাম। ইমিগ্রেশন তখন খুলেছে মাত্র। সাথে সাথে লাইনে দাঁড়িয়ে ইমিগ্রেশন করে নিলাম। ইমিগ্রেশন খুবই স্মুথ ছিল তেমন কিছু জিজ্ঞেসই করল না। শুধু আসার দিন বিকাল ৫.০০ টার মধ্যে আসতে বলল। আর ৩টা পাসপোর্টের জন্য ৩০০ টাকা ঘুষ নিল।  

এবার ট্রাভেল ট্যাক্স দিতে হবে। ইতমধ্যে বৃষ্টি আরো বেড়েছে। পাশেই সোনালি ব্যাংক ছিল, ছাতা নিয়ে গিয়ে ট্রাভেল ট্যাক্স দিয়ে আসলাম। তিন জনের মধ্যে একজন বাচ্চা তাই ট্রাভেল ট্যাক্স ২৫০০ টাকা হওয়ার কথা। কিন্তু যেহেতু সকাল ৯.০০ টার দিকে ছিলে তাই ১০০ টাকা বেশি নিল।  এবার আমাদের ট্রাভেল ট্যাক্স গুলো কাস্টমস এ জমা দেওয়ার পালা। কিন্তু সকাল থেকে টানা বৃষ্টি হওয়ার ফলে বিদ্যুৎ ছিল না এবং একটা ছোট ঘরে একজন কাস্টমস অফিসার মমবাতি জ্বালিয়ে ট্রাভেল ট্যাক্স গুলো জমা নিচ্ছিল। আর  ততক্ষণে কাস্টমসএর সামনে হাটু সমান পানি জমে গেছিল। যেহেতু বৃষ্টি থামার কোন সম্ভবনা দেখছিলাম না তাই তাই আমার মেয়েকে কোলে করে রাস্তায় এনে রাখলাম। রাস্তা একটু উচু ছিল তাই তখনও রাস্তায় পানি উঠেনি। যাইহোক প্রায় ১.০০ ঘন্টা পর আমার ট্রাভেল ট্যাক্স গুলো জমা নিল তারপর বিজিবি চেক পোস্টে এন্ট্রি করে আমরা ভারতের ডাউকিতে প্রবেশ করলাম। ডাউকিতে প্রবেশ করেই প্রথমে বিএসএফ পাসপোর্টের সিল চেক করল তারপর একটা গাড়িতে তুলে দিল। গাড়িটি আমাদেরকে ডাউকি স্থল বন্দরে পৌছে দিল। আমরা নেমে ইমিগ্রেশন কমপ্লেক্সে ঢুকলাম। প্রথমেই মেটাল ডিটেকটর দিয়ে বডি স্ক্যান করল তারপর ইমিগ্রেশন সিল দিল তারপর ব্যাগ স্ক্যান করল এবং সবশেষে কাসটমস এ পাসপোর্ট এন্ট্রি করা হল। সবগুলো অনেক সিস্টেমেটিক ছিল।

 

মেঘালয় ভ্রমণ করতে গেলে কি কি লাগবে তা নিচে দিয়ে দিলামঃ

বাংলাদেশ অংশেঃ

 ১। ভ্যালিড পাসপোর্ট (কমপক্ষে ৬ মাস মেয়াদ)

২। ভিসাতে ডাউকি বর্ডার উল্লেখ থাকতে হবে

৩। ট্রাভেল ট্যাক্স (সোনালী/অগ্রনী/জনতা ব্যাংকে ম্যানুয়াল, অনলাইন কপি তামাবিল বর্ডারে চলে না)

৪। ইমিগ্রেশন সিল দিতে হবে

৫। ট্রাভেল ট্যাক্স কাসটমস এ জমা দিতে হবে এবং পাসপোর্ট এন্ট্রি করতে হবে

৬। বিজিবি পাসপোর্ট এন্ট্রি করতে হবে।

এর একটিও বাদ পড়লে আপনি ফিরে আসার সময় অনেক ঝামেলা হবে।

ভারত অংশেঃ

১। ভিসাতে ডাউকি বর্ডার উল্লেখ থাকতে হবে

২। বিএসএফ পাসপোর্ট চেক

৩। গাড়িতে করে ইমিগ্রেশন কমপ্লেক্সে যেতে হবে কারন বর্ডার আর ইমিগ্রেশন একই জায়গায় না

৪। পাসপোর্ট এনডোর্স থাকতে হবে (ক্যাশ ডলার অথবা ক্রেডিট কার্ড)

৫। ইমিগ্রেশন সিল দিতে হবে

৬। কাসটমস এ পাসপোর্ট এন্ট্রি করতে হবে

Today, on the day of Eid, after finishing all the work, we were getting ready to go out. This Eid holiday was very good. I took an additional 2 days off, making it 9 consecutive days. But you can't spend Eid without going out. So, we left on the night of Eid. This trip was for 4 days, and there were 3 of us: me, my wife, and our only daughter.

Now, I'll tell you how we went. We booked Jeddah Paribahan tickets for 12:30 am. We left home around 11:30 pm. There were not many cars on the road. The three of us took a rickshaw to Arambagh. After reaching Arambagh, we picked up some cash and then waited for the bus. After waiting for about 40 minutes, the bus arrived around 12:45 am, and we boarded. The bus left 10 minutes later. As always, I could not sleep on the bus that night and spent the entire night awake. The journey stopped at Hotel Jannat around 2:30 am. It is located in Bhairab. After about 30 minutes, the bus started again. Around 3:30 am, as we were crossing Habiganj, it started raining. After a while, I fell asleep. But there wasn’t much use in sleeping, as we reached Sylhet's Humayan Chatter around 5:15 am, and it was raining heavily. After getting off the bus, we somehow made our way to the transport counter. The counter was not open, so there was a lot of pushing and shoving from the crowd.

Next, we needed to find a CNG to go to Tamabil. I took out the umbrella and started looking for one. Despite getting wet in the rain, the search continued. It was still early morning, so there weren’t many CNGs available. However, soon the CNG traffic increased. But no one was willing to go to Tamabil, as they feared the roads might be flooded. Eventually, when more CNGs appeared on the road, some drivers agreed to go but demanded higher fares, ranging from 1500 to 1800 taka.

Finally, we managed to hire a CNG for 1100 taka and headed for Tamabil. As we left, the rain intensified. It normally takes about 1.5 hours to reach Tamabil, but the heavy rain slowed us down. Despite the rain, my daughter, who was sitting in the middle, managed to sleep soundly. We reached the Tamabil border around 8:00 am. Immigration had just opened. I immediately stood in line and completed the immigration process smoothly. They didn't ask anything, just reminded us to return by 5:00 pm on the day of arrival and took a bribe of 300 taka for the three passports.

Next, we needed to pay the travel tax. By this time, the rain had increased. There was a Sonali Bank nearby, so I took the umbrella and paid the travel tax. Since one of the three of us is a child, the travel tax was supposed to be 2500 taka. However, because it was early morning, an additional 100 taka was charged.

We then had to submit our travel taxes to customs. Due to continuous rain, there was no electricity, and a customs officer was collecting travel taxes in a small room by candlelight. By that time, knee-deep water had accumulated in front of the customs area. With no signs of the rain stopping, I carried my daughter to higher ground where the water hadn't risen. After about an hour, our travel taxes were collected, and we proceeded to the BGB check post, entering Dawki, India. Upon entering Dawki, the BSF checked our passport seals and directed us to a vehicle. The car took us to the Dawki land port. We got down and entered the immigration complex. First, we had a body scan with a metal detector, then an immigration seal, followed by a bag scan, and finally, passport entry at customs. Everything was very systematic.

Below are the things you must need to travel to Meghalaya through Tamabil-Dawki border:

In Bangladesh:

1.     1. Valid passport (at least 6 months’ validity)

2.     2. Entry Port-Dawki should be mention in the Visa

3.     3. Travel Tax (Manual travel tax to be submitted at Sonali/Agrani/Janata Bank, online copy not accepted at Tamabil border)

4.     4. Immigration seal must be given

5.     5. Travel tax has to be deposited at customs and passport entry has to be done

6.     6. BGB passport entry should be done.

7.     7. Missing even one of these will cause a lot of trouble when you return.

In India:

1.     1. Entry Port-Dawki should be mention in the Visa

2.     2. BSF Passport Check

3.     3. You have to go to the immigration complex by minibus provided by the immigration authority of Dawki Border because the border and immigration are not at the same place

4.     4. Must have passport endorsement (cash dollars or credit card)

5.     5. Immigration seal must be given

6.     6. Passport must be entered at customs
